The outcome

What you get

Managers who handle it themselves

Delegation, feedback and hard conversations dealt with on the floor instead of being escalated to you.

Lower staff turnover

People quit managers before they quit companies. A capable team leader is the cheapest retention tool you can buy.

A bench of promotable people

Each cohort adds to your leadership pipeline. Content can be aligned to NZQA unit standards, which no other NZ boutique offers.

Who it's for

  • NZ businesses in retail, hospitality, operations or services
  • Team leaders, supervisors and duty managers who have never had formal training
  • Cohorts of 8 to 12, from a single site or several
  • People promoted because they were great at the job, who now need the leadership half

Who it's not for

  • Executive teams after strategy retreats
  • Anyone hoping a one-hour webinar will fix leadership
  • Businesses that cannot free managers up for one workshop day a month
Process

How it works

  1. Discovery and profiling (weeks 1 to 2)

DISC profiles and short 1:1s with each manager to set a baseline.

  2. Workshops plus on-floor application (weeks 3 to 14)

A workshop day each month, with practical assignments applied on shift in between.

  3. Coaching checkpoints

Two 1:1 coaching sessions per participant to make the habits stick.

  4. Measure and report back (final weeks)

Re-test against the baseline and report the results to your leadership team.

FAQ

Common questions

How much time are my managers off the floor?

One workshop day a month, plus short assignments they do on shift. The programme is planned around rosters and trading peaks.

Can it count toward a formal qualification?

Yes. Suzy is an NZQA workplace assessor and can align programme content to NZQA unit standards.

We only have four or five managers. Too small?

Not a problem. Small teams can join a mixed cohort, or start with a Team Profiling Day and coaching. Book a call and Suzy will suggest the right size of engagement.
